Students to Enjoy Full-Service Starbucks, Fresh Food to Order

Pittsburgh, PA, September 19, 2018 – Carlow University and its dining services partner, Aladdin, are proud to offer a new, full-service Starbucks, which officially opened for business September 17, 2018.

Over the summer, The Celtic Café, located in the A.J. Palumbo Hall of Science and Technology, was transformed into a new full-service Starbucks to better serve resident and commuter students, as well as faculty and staff.

Aladdin, a member of the Elior North America family of companies, will manage the new and improved Celtic Café where students can recharge with Starbucks freshly brewed hot coffee to handcrafted cold drinks, all while enjoying freshly prepared food for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

“Our goal is to provide an expanded, exceptional student-centered dining experience to accommodate the additional classes that will be relocated to this area of campus,” says Joe Colantuono, Aladdin director of food service, who also manages the Common’s Café and the university’s board operation.

Aladdin’s culinary team designed the new and expanded made-to-order food offerings which feature breakfast sandwiches, deli and flat breads such as the buffalo chicken, roasted pepper or tomato basil.  Grilled chicken and Cesar salads, Italian hoagie, wraps and a robust selection of homemade soups will all be prepared for students during lunch or dinner as a dine-in or take-out option.

To-go options include pre-packaged salads, sandwiches, fruits, healthy snacks and bottled beverages are also available for those in a hurry.  “This is especially convenient for our evening students who are rushing from the office to class,” says Colantuono.

Students can also satisfy their sweet tooth with cookies, donuts, muffins and other pastries baked and delivered fresh daily by Potomac Bakery in Mt. Lebanon.

Comfortable seating for up to 100 and three new 82-inch flat screen televisions will create a social environment for students where they can relax with friends or have a quick bite to eat before class. Charge ports also allow students to easily hook up electronics to learn and stay connected to the campus community!

Aladdin has also added team members including a server/cashier, barista, prep cook and cook, to better serve our guests quickly and efficiently,” says Colantuono.

“We are excited to offer this trend-forward dining venue to help engage and fuel our campus with great food, stylish beverages and just as important - camaraderie in a dynamic setting,” says David Meadows, Carlow University CFO and vice president for finance and administration,
